High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

HDPE - high density polyethylene. HDPE - high density polyethylene) is a polymer of the polyolefin family, with interesting mechanical and thermal properties, making it widely used for its high durability and ease of installation.

High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is the most widely consumed product in the world.

It has many advantages when compared to other types of polyethylene, because its chemical structure is linear, i.e., it has few lateral ramifications, increasing its density, crystallinity, strength and opacity. This linearity also makes HDPE withstand higher temperatures, with peaks of 120° C and continuous temperatures of 110° C.

PROPERTIES OF PEAD

RESISTANCE:

  • Excellent resistance to diluted and concentrated acids, alcohols and bases;
  • Good resistance to aldehydes, esters, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, mineral and vegetable oils;
  • Limited resistance to halogenated hydrocarbons and oxidising agents.
  • Lightweight, but with high resistance to impact, chemical agents, toxicity, incrustation, freezing and corrosion, which guarantees a long useful life (over 50 years), besides having low roughness, making them suitable for various segments

 Polyethylene will not rust, rot or corrode due to chemical attack, electrolytic or galvanic action.

The smooth HDPE surface also prevents the growth of bacteria, algae, fungi and biological attacks that help impede flowability and can cause bad odours.
